“If you can dream it, you can do it.” – Walt Disney.
Hello! I’m Carly Susanne. Welcome to my beauty & lifestyle blog.
I established this little space on the internet to help others by sharing all the tips and tricks I learnt whilst being a beautician and salon owner for many years. Regular readers will find in-depth beauty advice and product reviews not just from the perspective of the end user but that of a beautician too. There are also lots of updates on new releases and I love to throw in some lifestyle posts for good measure. This includes travel, blogging, gift guides and sometimes I even delve into the world of fashion! No matter what the topic is, I always makes sure it’s jam packed with information of some sort.
What camera do you use?
I use a Canon EOS 700D.
How did you set up a salon so young?
My salon was backed by the Prince’s Trust through their Enterprise programme. I owe the Prince’s Trust a lot.
How did you start writing?
When I gave up my salon and had a career change, I went to uni to study Business Studies with marketing. After I graduated I started working as a marketer, which included writing press releases for magazines etc.
Why did you give up your salon?
I had been in the industry since I was 14/15, and started enjoying working on the marketing side of the business more than giving treatments.
What qualifications do you have?
BA (Hons) Business Studies with Marketing, Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 3 and Hairdressing NVQ Level 2.
Which brands are you trained in?
Dermalogica, GM Collin, Monu, Renu, OPI, Jessica Nails, Nailtiques, Caflon, PHD Wax, Paul Mitchell, TIGI, KMS and many more!
What was your favourite treatment to do on clients?
I specialised in skincare so found doing facials really rewarding, especially when diagnosing skin types and helping to fix problems such as acne. I also really liked doing pedicures! I loved being a beautician so enjoyed doing all treatments if I’m honest. When a client leaves the salon feeling better about themselves then that’s a job done well. It’s all about helping people and I hope this has now transferred to the blog.
Have you got any advice for new bloggers?
Just be yourself, write about what you love, and your passion will shine through!
Most products featured on this blog have been purchased myself, however I often collaborate with brands which means that posts (including those on my social media channels) might be sponsored and contain gifted items, press samples and affiliate links. My opinion will always be honest regardless. Please be assured that I’ve worked in the beauty industry a long time and I never write about anything I don’t believe in. I’m quite fussy and turn down many opportunities when they are not a good fit. Please see the following:
Sponsored posts on Carly Susanne are stated at the end of the post, and all links are ‘no follow’. I also accept sponsored posts on my social medial channels which will contain #ad or #spon. If these posts (including mentions and images) are featured on this blog they are marked ‘Advertisement’.
Products that are sent to me from companies as a PR sample are clearly labelled with an asterix (*) or a disclaimer within the post. My opinion is 100% honest, with all views being my own. If I find a product disappointing then I will explain why or it will not be featured.
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. This means that if someone clicks through and makes a purchase I may receive a small commission. This does not affect the price of your purchase in any way.
