Birchbox | April 2015 | Review

Last Updated on by Carly

Since becoming a beauty blogger I’ve heard so much about Birchbox, but have never been lucky enough to try one for myself. Until now that is. Just incase you’re not aware, Birchbox make beauty based subscription boxes that you can purchase for £10.00 a month. Each box contains 5 personalised beauty samples, and this months theme is ‘Royally Good’, to celebrate the birth of the royal baby. There are two designs available, and as you can see from the pics below, I was sent one in blue. Let’s have a look at what’s inside…

Korres Shower Gel & Lola Barcelona Nail Polish
Korres | Bergamot Pear Shower Gel | 40ml Sample | RRP £8.00 for 250ml | Link
How adorable are mini beauty products, and even better, something by Korres. I’m really excited to be trying this shower gel. I’ve used it a couple of times so far, and the texture is thick and luxurious. It smells gorgeous and is packed with wheat proteins. Other ingredients include vitamin E, Vitamin C and Active Aloe.

Lola Barcelona | Nail Polish | Garcia | 8ml | RRP £7.50 | Link

I love nail polish, especially pink colours, so this product is right up my street. Lola has paired up with Birchbox to create this limited edition shade, making it that little it more special. I’m really looking forward to painting my nails with this. It’ll be perfect on my toes, teamed up with some cute summer sandals.

Inner Me Energise Me
Inner Me | Energise Me Capsules | 28 | RRP £15.00 | Link

I always make sure I take vitamins, so it’s a real bonus that these are included in the box. There’s a 28 day supply of capsules, which are made up of a special blend, that’s said to help with metabolism and overall health. Sounds good to me!

Percy & Reed No Oil Oil & Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash
Percy & Reed | Volumising No Oil Oil | 30ml | RRP £14.00 for 60ml | Link

Like most of the products in this box, Percy & Reed are a brand that I’ve never tried. My hair is very fine, so anything that gives extra volume is more than welcome in my collection of hair products. Apparently this tames hair, without weighing it down. Bring it on!

Bliss | Fabulous Foaming Face Wash | 30ml | RRP £18.50 for 197ml | Link

This is a two in one foaming face wash that doubles up as an exfoliator. It’s oil-free, and is said to be for all skin types. Ingredients include chamomile, milk thistle, rose hip extract, and passion flower. I like to use a face wash as a pre-cleanser, so I’ll keep you posted with how I get on.

Laura Mercier Kohl Pencil in Black Violet
Laura Mercier Kohl Pencil in Black Violet Swatch

Laura Mercier | Kohl Eye Pencil | Black Violet | 0.8g | RRP £17.50 | Link

Birchbox are giving their subscribers an extra product from Laura Mercier this month, and you can choose either a foundation primer, mascara, or a kohl eyeliner. I received the eye pencil, and it’s absolutely stunning, and really pigmented. The product itself is super soft, and glides on my skin like a dream. It’s really long lasting too. I’m going to be using this every day now!

I’m really impressed with my first ever Birchbox, and I can honestly say there isn’t one product here that I’m not going to get use out of. Pretty good, considering everything inside was a total surprise. It’s brilliant how all of these products are from high end brands too. It seems like a great way of trying out new goods, without shelling out for something you might not like.

If you would like to sign up to Birchbox, check out their website here.
Have you ever used any of these products? If so, what did you think?
