I love a good old favourites post. Don’t you? But in the past I’ve always categorised them into monthly, yearly or even seasonal favourites. Doing it that way can be a bit of a pain to be honest, so I thought why not just start a new series called Current Favourites? That way I can post them whenever I like and it’ll mean I’ve def got some faves to write about. Makes sense to me. Anyway, here’s some of the things I’ve been loving recently….

First up are these newly released palettes by The Body Shop. I have two quads which are Down to Earth 01 (on the bottom right in the pic above) and Down to Earth 03 (on the top right). The Body Shop also kindly sent me the Down to Earth Glow Palette (on the left). For the purpose of this post I’ve uploaded images of all three. However, the one I’ve been using and love is Down to Earth 01, because my skin has a warm peachy undertone.
01 has the shades that I feel suit my colouring the most. I think Down to Earth 03 would be good for those with a cool pinky undertone and the Down to Earth Glow Palette would be great for either, but I’m yet to try it. If you would like to see the swatches from 01 head on over to my Snapchat (username: CarlySusanne) as I’ve uploaded them there.
The next item I’ve been loving is this brush by Vogetti. It’s great for segmenting hair and creating volume by back-combing. I use it in combination with the Vogetti Super Size Hotshot Brush to create big bouncy blow-drys. It’s one of those brushes that cuts drying time because it has vents and also retains heat due to it’s ceramic coated aluminium barrel. I haven’t uploaded a pic of this one but you can check it out here.
Another product and new release that I’ve been loving recently is the Jason Wu + Caudalie Limited-Edition Beauty Elixir. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know that Beauty Elixir isn’t a newbie in my skincare routine, however I have to admit I think I prefer fashion designer Jason Wu’s new design. Apparently it was inspired by his 2016 spring/summer collection and the lace detail on the bottle represents ‘refinement and sophistication’. Jason Wu is said to be a massive fan of Caudalie and just like myself has been hooked on Beauty Elixir ever since he was given a bottle for Christmas one year.
For those of you that don’t know, Beauty Elixir is a spray that’s described as an ‘anti-dull complexion treatment’. It’s a multi-purpose fine mist product that can be used as a base for makeup before applying moisturiser, over the top of makeup or at any time a burst of radiance is required. The key ingredients are grape, orange blossom, rose, myrrh, benzoin, lemon balm, peppermint and rosemary. All together they create quite a distinct smell and it’s one that’s got celebrities and makeup artists all over the world completely addicted. That’s mainly because of it’s amazing benefits such as tightening the pores, stimulating, toning, soothing, energising, softening and moisturising the skin. The main reason I love it is because of it’s ability to brighten skin, set makeup and instantly wake me up with just one spray.
Now let’s talk about makeup brushes. I was lucky enough to be sent the Marbleous 5 Piece Sculpt Set by Spectrum last month and have been using them ever since. These brushes seem to have taken the beauty world by storm recently. Is it any wonder though, I mean just look at how cute they are. Spectrum claim that these are the most ‘Instaworthy brushes you can own’ and I have to agree. I’m totally in love with the rose gold, grey and white design. At the moment I’m using the A05 to apply my blusher, the A00 for loose powder, the A02 for foundation, the C02 for bronzer and the C07 to blend it all together.
Talking of blusher, Ollie bought me two for my birthday and one of those was Nars Orgasm. I’m not sure how this one has managed to escape my clutches for so long! For anyone that hasn’t tried it, Orgasm is a warm pink colour with a peachy/gold shimmer to it (the right middle in the pic above). I think it suits my skin tone really well, but that said I haven’t actually asked the opinion of anyone else, which is something I would normally do. Again, head on over to my Snapchat as I’m uploading some swatches there for those of you that haven’t seen it before.
Lastly is the Gatineau Eye Makeup Remover. I’ve always wanted to try some products by this brand as it’s really highly regarded in the beauty world. Not only does this remove stubborn eye makeup, but it also doubles up as a cooling eye treatment if you put it in the fridge. Key ingredients include cucumber, aloe vera and green tea. I think this would probably be a really good product for those with sensitive eyes.
Have you tried any of the products or tools I’ve mentioned here?
