Ever since I opened my first salon I’ve had a bit of an obsession with Papaya due to its amazing ability to dissolve dead skin cells. I also have a thing for exfoliators. Especially ones that can be applied like a mask. I actually went through a stage of collecting them with the aim of trying as many as I could by different brands. There was one thing they all had in common though – the main ingredient had to be Papaya. The ones that made the cut have remained firm favourites in my skincare routine and this includes the fabulous Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel….
Papaya Enzyme Peel: Available from Elemis
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel is an exotic fruity exfoliating cream that you apply just like a face mask, leave for 10-15 minutes and then wash off. Unlike other exfoliators the texture of this product is completely smooth, and therefore it has no gritty bits at all. The fact that it’s non-abrasive means the Peel does all the work for you. Papaya really is the magic ingredient here due to it’s natural ability to dissolve dead skin cells. Whereas normally I would spend my time massaging an exfoliating scrub into my skin, with this I can quickly put it on and wander off and do something else. Like writing a blog post or doing the hoovering for example! I don’t know about you, but I find I’m so busy these days that I’ll welcome anything that’s going to help me to multi-task.
Once removed my skin is left soft, smooth and looks like it’s come back to life. I’ll usually follow up by toning and applying a face mask. That said, there are so many lovely ingredients in this cream (think pineapple, Vitamin B3 and E, Milk Protein, Bladderwrack and Papain) that there isn’t necessarily any need. Sometimes I’ll skip the face mask altogether, finishing by toning and applying a serum, my eye cream and a moisturiser. It really depends on what I’m doing that day.
This product has been a firm favourite in my skincare routine for a really long time now. I love it because the smell is lovely, it’s easy to apply and glides on my skin like a dream. I’ve always been happy with the end results and the fact that it’s gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin is a real bonus too.
