It’s no secret that Fleur De Force is my favourite blogger (you can read more about that here), so you can imagine how excited I was when she announced the launch of her very own range – Fleur De Force Makeup. I knew I would be giving her products a try straight away. I went on www.feelunique.com and found a few bits and pieces, but quickly realised there was a massive demand, because what I wanted was out of stock. Luckily my lovely friend Claudia had already bought me the cosmetic bag, mirror, lashes, lipgloss and the exact eyeshadow quad I had chosen for Christmas. (Thanks Claudie!). We were in absolute stitches the day we exchanged gifts because I had bought her the equivalent, but by her fave UK blogger Tanya Burr. I guess we just know each other so well. Anyway, as that was about 4 months ago I’ve had plenty of time to see what I think so today I thought I would write a review….
The faux leather Cosmetic Bag is fab, and features Fleur’s signature branding which is a watercolour print with stars and grey writing, and it has a gorgeous rose gold zip. The main reason I like it is because of the size. It’s fairly big, and I can easily store my go-to makeup products inside. There’s nothing worse than trying to cram everything into your makeup bag only to find it doesn’t fit.
Lipgloss wise I have the shade Written in the Stars. All of Fleur’s Lipglosses have star related names, and if you follow her you will know that’s because she’s obsessed with them. This shade in particular is a ‘your lips but better colour’. I would describe it as being nude. It has the most amazing vanilla scent, and personally I think it’s one of those you want to continuously apply purely based on the smell. It’s really opaque and across between a lipstick and gloss so lasts fairly well. The texture of the product itself is quite thick, but not sticky at all. I find it to be really moisturising, and at the moment it’s a must-have makeup staple in my bag.
I have the Cosmic Bronze eyeshadow quad, and it has to be said – well done Claudie for getting that right, as out of the two available it’s the one I wanted. There’s a really pale shade with a slight shimmer that I tend to apply all over my lids, right up to the brows. Perfect for giving that highlighted and more lifted look. It also has a bronze taupe colour (that reminds me of MAC Satin Taupe), and I love to use my MAC 217 brush to apply it in the crease, then I add the dark matt brown to the outer corners, the light matt brown in the middle, and then blend it all together. The shadows seem to last rather well, and definitely don’t crease. Overall, I’m really impressed with this quad, and it’s the perfect size to pop in my bag when I’m on the go.
I also have a set of Eylure Fleur De Force Simply Fleur Lashes, which are spot on for everyday use as they’re so natural looking. I’m really pleased with them because more often than not I have to cut strip lashes to size, but these are the perfect fit. As with all Eylure lashes, they’re really easy to apply (it takes me less than a minute on each side once I’ve applied the glue and let it set a little), last pretty much as long as you want them to, and can be used over and over again. Overall, I’m chuffed to bits with everything I’ve tried by Fleur De Force Makeup, and I can’t wait to see what she releases next.
What do you think of this collection? Is there anything else I should try?
