Do you ever have days where you look in the mirror, and your first thought is ‘ugh!’? Well that’s kinda how I’ve felt about myself for a long time now. 2015 was a really difficult year for me. In fact, I think it was the worst year of my life. I don’t know why I do it, but when times are tough, I find comfort in food. When I was younger it was fine because I was was one of those skinny people that never put on weight. Fast forward a good few years and it’s no longer the case.
In an ideal world we could eat whatever we like and remain the size we want to be, but it’s not an ideal world is it? Life just isn’t that way, and I’m done with feeling podgy, cringing at photos of myself, and hiding under baggy jumpers. It’s time to take action, and I can’t think of a better way to motivate myself than by posting a weekly update on the blog. After all, who wants to write a health & fitness post, just to tell the world you’ve failed at what you set out to do? Not me, that’s for sure!
So, for those of you that are interested (and I hope to inspire at least one person out there!), I’m going to be posting regular updates of my progress, including any tips and tricks that I’ve learnt along the way. I guess you could say this is my personal online fitness journey, where I focus on healthy eating, getting fit, and losing a few pounds in the process! When I’ve had a good week I’m going to reward myself with treats, such as new clothes and make-up. I’ll publish my height and weight when I hit my goal, but until then, here’s how I’ve got on so far:
Weightloss goal: 18lb
Weightless this week: 2lb
Weightloss total: 2lb
Average hours sleep per night: 9.5
Cheat days: 1 – We were at our favourite Indian restaurant on New Years Eve, and quite frankly I went all out, eating popadoms, naan bread, and a yummy vegetable masala with pilau rice. I topped it all off by drinking prosecco, and eating 200g of chocolate! Oops!
Favourite meal: I’m obsessed with having oven baked porridge for breakfast. Yum!
Totally loving: My Nutribullet. What an amazing invention.
Observations: I lose weight quicker when I eat lots of fruit (such as raspberries, strawberries, and apples), and veg (such as baby sweetcorn, broccoli, and carrots). This is alongside my usual meals, so technically I’m eating more!
Overall, I’m chuffed to bits with how I’ve got on in week 1. I was ill all over Christmas, so it wasn’t a good time to exercise, and apart from New Years Eve, I’ve been eating really healthily. All home cooked food, and my Nutribullet has been a god send. I’ve used it to make soups and curry sauce. The only downside is the curry has dyed it a horrible colour, so I need to look into buying a replacement. I’ll keep the dyed one especially for curry now!
Are you someone that’s into health and fitness? If so, what motivates you to stay on track?
