Dorset is set to have a mini heatwave this weekend, and apparently some areas in the south are predicted to see temperatures of up to 25C! Sandbanks is already 20C and according to the news we’re going to be giving Ibiza a good run for their money. With that in mind, and suggestions from Ollie such as ‘why don’t you write on the beach’ (yes Ollie!), I’ve started thinking about how I’m going to protect my skin this year. I’m someone that wears SPF every single day, but is there more I can do to help prevent damage from UV rays? La Roche-Posay think so as they have just launched My UV Patch, the first-ever stretchable UV Monitor….

My UV Patch has been designed to help you measure UV exposure and learn how to better protect yourself from UV ray damage. Visually it’s a stretchy electronic adhesive that you apply to your skin, and measures 1 square inch and is 50 micrometers thick. The patch has photosensitive dyes inside, and once exposed to UV rays it changes colour and indicates varying levels of exposure to the sun. The idea is that you then take a pic of the patch, upload it to the La Roche-Posay My UV Patch mobile app, and the amount of UV exposure you’ve received will be analysed from there. My UV Patch will provide your profile summary, advice such as when to re-apply your sun protection and other important information about how to stay safe in the sun.
My UV Patch will be available in the UK from June 2016, and that includes advice which is free of charge. The waiting list for this highly anticipated product officially opened today. You can be one of the first to sign up here.
