To celebrate the expected arrival of our little girl Ollie and I had a party at our house, but very kindly hosted by my mum. This was a massive milestone for us so we decided to have a baby shower and bbq all rolled into one. About 26 close friends and family turned up on the day including men, women and children too.
The party started at 1 and finished around 11 and involved lots of eating, drinking listening to music and playing games. We tried to invite as many people as we could without it getting too out of hand and the priority was that everyone who came had fun….
Ready to Pop Popcorn Bags:
Unfortunately I didn’t get that many pics as once in full swing it was a pretty hectic day! However I thought it would be good to share a few of the details from the party, just in case you’re someone that’s looking for baby shower ideas yourself.
I decided I would like a colour scheme that matches our nursery so the theme was pink, white and grey. This was heavily reflected in my cake and sweets buffet as shown above but there were actually 5 different food tables altogether. This included a savoury buffet, snacks and alcohol from 1pm with a cheeky chocolate cake thrown in for good measure and a bbq that was fired up about 4.
As my mum was the baby shower host the games were a total surprise. We played baby bingo, guess the number of sweets in the baby bottle, a Disney themed anagram and there was a dummy piñata loaded up to the brim! I also had pin the dummy on the baby but we never got around to playing that. Boxes of chocolates and bottles of alcohol were given out as prizes and I’m pretty sure everyone had a really good time.
We also had this little area that we were using as a photo booth. It was an idea that my friend came up with half way through. It started off as her wanting to take a pic of me but I thought it looked really good so I encouraged others to have some taken too. Sadly I didn’t manage to snap everyone and that is my only regret from the day.
The favour bags were designed to have a ‘relax’ theme and included pink marsh mallow bubble bath and bottles of rose. Again, the idea was that the colours matched my theme! This was with the exception of the children who went away with Paw Patrol goodies and stuff like that.
Ollie and I can’t thank everyone that came enough. We were overwhelmed with the generosity and so many helped out too. This is something we will never forget. It’s unlikely any of them will be reading this but just in case they are – we couldn’t have done it without you! So many thanks again!
