If there’s one thing that’s really important to me right now it’s making sure I use pregnancy safe skincare products. Personally I prefer collections that have been especially created with pregnant women in mind. As soon as I saw those two blue lines I knew it was time to dig out some of my old faves.

These include products by Mama Mio and Burt’s Bees and they’ve been tried, tested and repurchased over and over again….

Blanket & Hat: Kindly made for us by Rosie J Knits | Gorgeous Glow Brightening Eye Serum: Mama Mio | Gorgeous Glow Balancing Facial Wash: Mama Mio | Brightening Day and Night Cream: Mama Mio | Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil: Burt’s Bees | Bashful Bunny Grabber: Jellycat

I particularly love the Mama Mio range (available here) as their products are all natural and not just safe to use during pregnancy but if you are breastfeeding too. This is a collection that I’m quite familiar with from back in the days when I owned a salon, so they’ve been around for a really long time!

Mama Mio was always going to be my go to brand if I became pregnant. My main reason is that they have a ‘No Nasties Policy’, meaning the products are colourant, pthalates, xenoestrogens, petrolatum, parabens, and PEGS free. Another bonus is that they don’t test on animals and there’s a lot to be said for that too.

My routine usually starts with the Gorgeous Glow Balancing Facial Wash which cleanses whilst leaving my skin feeling really nourished and soft. It smells amazing and comes in a bottle with a pump which ensures I dispense just the right amount. Key ingredients include tea tree, organic evening primrose, olive oils, avocado, sweet almond, green tea leaf, coconut, lactic acid and organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice.

Once I’ve cleansed my skin I apply the Gorgeous Glow Brightening Eye Serum which has a fresh, subtle smell with the main ingredient being aloe vera. Just like the facial wash it has a pump dispenser and so a little goes a really long way. The formula itself is incredibly lightweight and I find it really soothing around my eyes.

The last step in my routine involves applying the Gorgeous Glow Brightening Day and Night Cream. This smells just like the facial wash and it moisturises, clarifies and brightens my skin too. In this range Mama Mio have created formulas that aim to combat dead skin cells leaving it blemish free. I’m not suffering with any breakouts at the mo but love the way these products make my skin feel.

Finally I need to talk to you guys about the Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil which I use everywhere including my face! I know this product is primarily marketed for the body however I feel like it’s a bit of an all-rounder. I only use a small amount at a time as it is an oil. However, after a few mins I find it absorbs really well.

Mums-to-be rave about how amazing this oil is for preventing stretch marks and keeping skin supple and soft. I have no idea whether I’ll end up getting stretch marks or not but when it comes to preventing them I’ll give it a good go! The formula is made up of vitamin E, lemon oil and sweet almond and smells really fab. Just like Mama Mio products there are no nasties either as this oil is paraben, phthalates and petrolatum free.

Have you got any pregnancy safe skincare products you can recommend?
