Revlon Colorstay Foundation has been a firm favourite in my makeup routine for a really long time and recently the packaging has had a bit of a re-vamp. It now has a pump dispenser, so with that in mind I thought what better time to purchase a new bottle and write about it on the blog….
Revlon Colorstay Foundation: Available from Boots.
Revlon Colorstay Foundation comes in many shades, but for your information I use 180 Sand Beige for Combination/Oily skin. I started using this makeup when working in my first job as a beautician, so around 14 years ago. We had bottles of it in every shade and would use it on clients when doing their makeup. When I opened my first salon I continued to use it on myself and my new clients, and by the time I opened the second this was still used in my makeup kit. So you probaly get the picture by now – I think this stuff is pretty good!
The reason I love it so much is that it gives amazing coverage that lasts for hours. Revlon give it a 24 hour wear time, but I would argue that it can last even longer! This stuff really does not budge. I’m not someone that makes a habit of wearing foundation longer than 24 hours, however this is tried and tested by myself. It was a good few years back when I went out with some friends to London and had applied this around 2pm in the afternoon. We went on a night out and didn’t get back to the house we were staying in until 10am, and I was so exhausted I went to sleep in my makeup. I didn’t wake up until 2pm that day, hence the foundation had been on for 24 hours. But here’s the thing – it still looked perfect! I had travelled from Bournemouth to London, been out dancing all night, slept in it, and after all that it still looked perfect. I honestly think it would have lasted for another day. I didn’t put that one to the test though!
I would say that Revlon Colorstay gives medium coverage, but is build able to full. It saw me through many years when I had spots. I would apply one layer all over my skin, then add little bits to conceal spots and blemishes. It has SPF 6 which is an added bonus, although personally I prefer my SPF to be a bit higher. Although it doesn’t claim to be, I feel like it’s pretty much waterproof. (You try washing this stuff off of a plastic makeup palette and you’ll see exactly what I’m saying!). I think it’s brilliant if you’re going to expose your face be to water or think you might cry! That’s why we loved using it on brides in the salon.
Revlon Colorstay is definitely my go-to foundation when I feel like I need that extra bit of coverage, and for that reason I make sure I always have a bottle of it in my stash. Now that it has a pump dispenser the product is even better, making it really easy to control how much comes out. I think this makes it a lot more hygienic too.
Have you tried revlon Colorstay? If so, what do you think?
