Even though it was snowing on Saturday Ollie and I headed off to Brighton to celebrate our Valentine’s Day early this year. It was a last minute, unplanned trip that resulted in us spending most of the day eating and trying to keep warm….

There’s plenty to do here, including lots of rides, attractions and a couple of arcades which were absolutely packed. It was lunch time and we were spoilt for choice when it came to places to eat. However, it would have been rude to visit Brighton Pier and not try out some of their chips! At least, that was my excuse anyway. It has to be said they did not disappoint.VALENTINE'S DAY IN BRIGHTONVALENTINE'S DAY IN BRIGHTONVALENTINE'S DAY IN BRIGHTONVALENTINE'S DAY IN BRIGHTONFollowing our visit to the pier we headed to the marina, where we discovered the Laughing Dog cafe. I cannot tell you how good it was to warm up with some cappuccino and a slice of Rocky Road. Whilst sat at our table we had a visitor and I couldn’t help but wonder, is this the laughing dog? He was as cute as a button and looked just like the pic on the board outside. This dog definitely belonged in the cafe that was for sure!

VALENTINE'S DAY IN BRIGHTONOnce warmed up we decided to take a look around some of the marina’s shops. Starting with the gift shop inside the Laughing Dog. As you can see from the pic of me above I was still sporting the ‘I’ve been snowed on look’. I probably should have brushed my hair again, but there’s something I like about posting a pic like this and keeping it real!

We ended the day by looking at boats (which Ollie is obsessed with by the way) and had dinner at Pizza Express. After indulging in Garlic Bread with Mozzarella, Buffalo Mozzarella & Tomato Salad, Lasagne and some Leggera Padana we headed back home. It was lovely visiting Brighton but the bleak weather meant we didn’t get to do as many things as we would have liked. I’m planning on going back again, hopefully when it’s hot and sunny as I bet it’s amazing in the summer.

On that note, I’ve come up with a little plan that would be great for one or two nights away. We could stay in the Brighton Harbour Hotel which overlooks the beach and is really close to the shopping centre. It also has a brand new spa which I would make full use of too. I think this hotel used to be called The Umi but was taken over by Harbour Hotels last year. It looks as though it’s had a full refurb so I would love to go and check it out. I’d also like to go on the i360, which apparently has amazing views of the city and the coast. What do you think? Does this sound like a plan?

Have you ever been to Brighton? If so can you recommend any hotels or things to do?
